PSNWA Fine Art Division will be visiting the Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art to see the exhibition Dignity vs. Despair: Dorothea Lange and Depression-Era Photographers, 1933–1941.

The exhibition features the work of five photographers— Dorothea Lange, Walker Evans, Arthur Rothstein, Marion Post Wolcott and Peter Sekaer, this exhibition features images of urban hardship, the plight of the migrant worker, and poverty in the South. The integration of images with the photographers’ own words—excerpted from captions, field notes, and interviews—gives a poignant look at one of the most difficult times in U.S. history.

In addition to the musuem, Kansas City has a fantastic gallery scene to explore including a current exhibition at the Leedy-Voulkos Art Center that includes work by PSNWA member Chuck Davis.

We will meet in the Oscar’s Awards parking lot at 502 SW 14th St. Bentonville at 7:30 am to leave for Kansas City.
