What is minimalist photography? <\/p>\n

Minimalist celebrates the isolation of the subject and the negative space around it. It\u2019s simplistic without being simple. It\u2019s clean lines and empty spaces surrounding a lone subject. Colors are often muted instad of bold. While many minimalist photos utilize black and white photography, color images can have just as strong an impact.<\/p>\n

The goal of the minimalist photo is to tell a story and evoke emotion with as few elements as possible. Composition is clean and clutter free. While some include repeating backgrounds, others find that even that detracts from the minimalist style. <\/p>\n

<\/a>Minimalist photography often evokes feelings of solitude or calm. The subject stands out, providing a striking contrast to its toned-down surroundings. <\/p>\n

The shadow of a person on concrete. A tree in fog. A window in a smooth wall. These are some examples of minimalist photography. The idea is to get the viewer to slow down and take in the image, letting it resonate with them emotionally. <\/p>\n

Melissa has been a photographer for more than two decades. She has a broad interest in photography and specializes in weather photography, fireworks and bridges. Melissa has traveled much of the South photographing the vanishing metal bridges of the past century. The current Chairperson for the Photographic Society of Northwest Arkansas, she has an energetic personality that translates in to fun yet informative classes.
