An Honest Guide To What It Really Takes To Succeed
Forget the fairy tales and the fluffy business advice. Here’s what building a portrait photography business actually looks like.
You don’t need perfect gear, a massive Instagram following, or years of experience to start a successful portrait photography business. But you do need to understand what you’re really getting into—and that’s where most photography advice falls short.
This isn’t another talk promising overnight success or six-figure breakthroughs. It’s the honest conversation I wish someone had with me before I dove in. Look, the statistics are brutal—most photographers bail within the first few years because nobody tells them the real deal upfront. They get caught up in the Instagram highlight reels and think it’s all creative bliss and easy money. I’ve been there. I’ve made the mistakes. And I’ve figured out how to build something that actually lasts in an industry that chews up dreamers and spits them out.
Today’s talk is the unofficial launch of my new book by the same title, and I’m going to give you the unfiltered truth about what it really takes to not just survive, but thrive as a portrait photographer.
