Owls of North America
If you have ever wanted to learn more about photographing the owls of North America, hoped for a chance to talk to like-minded “owl-a-holics”, and hear about owl adventures across the United States, then join us for an evening all about owls. Mindy Musick King and Jane Goble will share their adventures photographing owls, both at their homes here in NW Arkansas and in their owling travels.

From east to west and north to south Mindy and Jane have, between them, photographed 13 of North America’s 19 species of owls. This presentation will be filled with both images and the stories behind the photographs, as well as tips on how to find and ethically photograph owls.
Distinguished Photographer: Mindy King
A lifelong hobby photographer, Mindy began a more serious study into wildlife photography following retirement 10 years ago. Photographing owls and studying their behavior and habitat has taken her on many adventures. Mindy and her husband Tim moved to Bella Vista from Colorado 5 years ago. The greeting committee to their new home was a Great Horned Owl who flew into the yard to say hello their very first evening.
She currently shoots with a Canon R5 and Canon RF100-500mm lens.
Distinguished Photographer: Jane Goble
Jane's photography journey began in 2014 when she purchased her first camera-and-lens combo from a Walmart shelf for just $250. That simple start sparked a lifelong passion for capturing the natural world—especially the mysterious beauty of owls.
Now happily retired, Jane travels widely in search of these captivating birds, patiently waiting to photograph their silent grace. Along the way, she also enjoys photographing landscapes and other wildlife, and has even chased wild mustangs across Colorado and Wyoming.
When she is not behind the camera, Jane can often be found hiking, hunting for arrowheads, kayaking, or tending her garden. Each adventure fuels her love of nature and deepens her commitment to sharing the wonder of owls through her lens.
