A Photographic Journey into Wild Africa
For eleven glorious spring days in October 2025, Dan White experienced what can only be described as a fantasy come true in the bushveld of northern South Africa. The weather was pre-rainy season perfect, and the wildlife was active, plenty, gorgeous, and photogenic. A presentation of this wonderful experience will include a short talk about travel to and from South Africa, equipment used, a couple of stories, and encouragement to pursue your dreams in your own photography. A music-accompanied slide show will give each viewer and listener a hint of what can be seen and captured on camera in magical Africa. Africa is a place and a feeling that, once experienced, will never leave your heart or mind.

Distinguished Photographer: Dan White
Dan White is a wildlife and landscape photographer. As a boy, he asked for a camera for Christmas, and was given a plastic Imperial Flash Mark XII, 620 film camera. A little later in the 1970's, Dan obtained an Olympus OM-1 35mm camera, and he discovered the joy of taking detailed photographs. With the advent of digital photography, his experimentation with landscapes and animal photos took over his interest more than any other kind of photography. Over time, gaining more experience, and with lots of teaching by excellent professional wildlife photographers, Dan was finding his niche, and an expanding love for wildlife and their behaviors. Retirement, after forty years in the fire and paramedic services, has left Dan more time to explore this intriguing and rewarding type of photography. Living in the "boonies" of Carroll Co., Arkansas, Dan finds no shortage of opportunities to capture images of undomesticated wildlife that share their world and their lives with all the other animals, and with us of the two-legged variety.
