Sa je pa wé, ké pa santi (What the eye doesn’t see, the heart doesn’t feel) work by Bob Coleman

Sa je pa wé, ké pa santi” consists of work photojournalist Bob Coleman made in 2011 and 2012 while in Bombardopolis, Haiti, with a mission group from St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Rogers, AR.

“It’s not easy to put into words the emotions one is confronted with while working in the midst of the wonderful people and extreme poverty of Haiti. Fortunately for me, I don’t have to. As a photographer, it is my job/calling to translate those emotions into images. If I’ve done my job, the viewer will be touched in a real way. There is a Haitian proverb, ‘Sa je pa wé, ké pa santi,’ which means ‘What the eye doesn’t see, the heart doesn’t feel.’ The pictures in this exhibition are among my favorites from my time in Bombardopolis. It is my hope that when you look at them, your eyes will see and your heart will feel some of what mine did when I made these images.”

The exhibition reception is June 9th from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the PSNWA Gallery and Studios located at 126 W. Emma Ave., in downtown Springdale. Drinks and light refreshments will be served.
