Each month, except January, PSNWA has a general meeting. Most meetings consist of a guest photographer sharing their work and photographic experience. Locations vary throughout Northwest Arkansas. Join us for the next PSNWA meeting.
Intentional Camera Movement
Intentional Camera Movement (ICM) is sometimes referred to as camera painting due to the painterly, ethereal images that can be produced. This particular effect is not by chance or haphazard. Dena will share knowledge about specific techniques, tools, and how application of conventional photographic principles can make dreamy, one-of-a-kind images to complement the photographer’s repertoire.
A Photographic Journey into Wild Africa
For eleven glorious spring days in October 2025, Dan White experienced what can only be described as a fantasy come true in the bushveld of northern South Africa. The weather was pre-rainy season perfect, and the wildlife was active, plenty, gorgeous, and photogenic. A presentation of this wonderful experience will include a short talk about travel to and from South Africa, equipment used, a couple of stories, and encouragement to pursue your dreams in your own photography. A music-accompanied slide show will give each viewer and listener a hint of what can be seen and captured on camera in magical Africa. Africa is a place and a feeling that, once experienced, will never leave your heart or mind.
We invite you to be part of our engaging online discussion, Tuesday, Feb 3rd, 7PM! During this session, our dedicated PSNWA officers will share plans for upcoming events and classes specifically designed for our members. This is not only a chance to learn about what’s coming up but also an opportunity for you to voice your ideas and preferences for future events or classes that you would like PSNWA to organize.
We look forward to seeing you there and hearing your valuable input!
Join us for cookies and a hot chocolate mixer! Build your favorite hot chocolate drink and get to know fellow PSNWA members during a short mingle starting at 7:00 PM prior to elections.
Owls of North America
If you have ever wanted to learn more about photographing the owls of North America, hoped for a chance to talk to like-minded “owl-a-holics”, and hear about owl adventures across the United States, then join us for an evening all about owls. Mindy Musick King and Jane Goble will share their adventures photographing owls, both at their homes here in NW Arkansas and in their owling travels.
An Honest Guide To What It Really Takes To Succeed
Forget the fairy tales and the fluffy business advice. Here’s what building a portrait photography business actually looks like.
You don’t need perfect gear, a massive Instagram following, or years of experience to start a successful portrait photography business. But you do need to understand what you’re really getting into—and that’s where most photography advice falls short.
Join us for a presentation by published and awarded photographer Jason Hudson as he speaks on the topic of “Choosing the right equipment”, which will cover a broad range of topics from cameras to lenses, to lighting, and some bonus topics, too!
Join us for a presentation by PSNWA and PSA member photographer Kim Clark as he shares his passion for Wildlife Photography, and shares his experiences traveling to wildlife locations and getting the great images.
Please join us on April 3rd at 7:00 PM for a presentation by award-winning photographer Jenny Wong.
Capturing the Sights Unseen. In the age of social media research is really as simple as a hashtag, for most places. As one that specializes in remote places and wild creatures, I’d like to show you how I prepare for a trip so I don’t show up looking like a newbie.
